Why is a dicot leaf called dorsiventral?

Dorsiventral means the two sides are different. A dicot leaf holds its blade horizontally, so the upper (dorsal) side faces strong light and the lower (ventral) side is shaded. Because of this, the mesophyll splits into an upper palisade layer (tall cells packed for maximum light capture) and a lower spongy layer (loose cells with air spaces for gas exchange). The two sides do different jobs, so the leaf is dorsiventral.

Why is a monocot leaf called isobilateral?

Isobilateral means "equal on both sides". A grass (monocot) leaf often stands more vertically, so both surfaces get similar light. The mesophyll is not divided into palisade and spongy, stomata occur on both surfaces, and the leaf looks the same from top and bottom. Because both faces are alike, it is called isobilateral.

Which leaf has palisade and spongy mesophyll?

Only the dorsiventral (dicot) leaf has this split. What are bulliform cells and which leaf has them?

Bulliform cells are large, empty, colourless adaxial epidermal cells found along the veins in grass (isobilateral, monocot) leaves.
