What exactly are ciliated protozoans (as per NCERT)?

NCERT says ciliated protozoans are aquatic (water-living), actively moving organisms because they have thousands of cilia on their body surface. Cilia are very short hair-like structures. The best example is Paramoecium. They belong to Kingdom Protista because they are single-celled eukaryotes (they have a true nucleus).

How does Paramoecium feed through the gullet?

Paramoecium has a cavity called the gullet that opens to the outside of the cell surface. The cilia are arranged in rows. Their coordinated (well-timed) beating makes the water, which carries tiny food particles, get steered (pushed) into the gullet. So the same cilia help in both moving AND bringing food in. This is a common one-line NEET fact.

What is the difference between cilia and flagella here?
