Why is energy flow in an ecosystem called unidirectional?

Because energy always moves in one fixed direction. It starts at the Sun, is captured by producers (plants), and then passes to herbivores, then carnivores. It never goes backward. Consumers can never give energy back to producers, and no organism sends energy back to the Sun. So NEET calls it a one-way (unidirectional) flow.

Why does energy not flow back to the Sun?

The Sun's energy enters the ecosystem and is used for life processes. At each trophic level, a large part of this energy is lost as heat to the air during respiration.
