For NEET, treat pistil and carpel as the same unit — one female reproductive unit made of stigma, style and ovary. The whole female part of the flower (all pistils together) is called the gynoecium. So carpel = pistil = one unit; gynoecium = the total of all such units in one flower.
Gynoecium is the whole female part of the flower. A pistil is one unit inside it. If a flower has only one pistil it is monocarpellary; if it has more than one pistil it is multicarpellary. So gynoecium is the group, pistil is the member.
These words apply only when a flower has more than one pistil (multicarpellary). If the pistils are fused (joined) together, it is syncarpous. If the pistils are free (separate), it is apocarpous. NCERT example logic: joined = syncarpous, separate = apocarpous.
From top to bottom: stigma, then style, then ovary. Stigma is the landing platform for pollen grains. Style is the elongated slender part just below the stigma. Ovary is the basal bulged part, and inside it is the ovarian cavity (locule) where the placenta and ovules sit.
Inside the ovary is the ovarian cavity, also called the locule. The placenta is located inside this cavity, and the ovules (megasporangia) arise from the placenta. The way ovules are arranged on the placenta is called placentation, which is a separate topic.

A pistil is made of three parts: stigma at the top, style in the middle, and ovary at the base. The ovary contains the ovarian cavity (locule) with the placenta and ovules.
