Cutaneous means respiration through the skin. Gases diffuse straight across a thin, moist, well-supplied-with-blood surface. NCERT examples: the earthworm (moist cuticle) and the frog. A frog in water respires only through its skin, and during hibernation and aestivation it also uses only the skin. So 'cutaneous' and 'skin respiration' are the same thing.
Branchial respiration uses gills, which are special vascularised structures for taking oxygen from water. NCERT says most aquatic arthropods and molluscs use gills, and among vertebrates fishes use gills. Pulmonary respiration uses lungs, which are vascularised bags used by terrestrial forms. Simple rule: gills are for water (branchial), lungs are for air (pulmonary).
Insects use tracheal respiration. They have a network of air tubes called tracheal tubes that carry atmospheric air directly to the tissues. Blood does not carry the oxygen here, which makes insects the standard NCERT example. Do not confuse the insect trachea (air tubes over the whole body) with the human trachea (the windpipe of the lungs).
Both, but it depends on where the frog is. In water the frog respires only through its skin (cutaneous). On land the buccal cavity, skin and lungs are all used, and lung breathing is called pulmonary respiration. That is why NCERT lists adult amphibians as 'pulmonary and cutaneous' in match questions.
Lower invertebrates like sponges, coelenterates and flatworms have no special organ. They exchange O2 and CO2 by simple diffusion over their entire body surface. This is the simplest mode and comes before cutaneous, branchial, tracheal and pulmonary in the NCERT sequence.

Cutaneous respiration works BY diffusion, but the two words are not the same. Simple diffusion over the whole body surface (sponges, flatworms) is the most basic mode. Cutaneous respiration is diffusion through a special respiratory surface, the skin, as in earthworms and frogs.
Fishes use gills, so branchial respiration. NCERT places fishes with gills, and amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals with lungs (pulmonary).
In water the frog's thin, moist, richly supplied-with-blood skin lets dissolved oxygen diffuse straight into the blood (cutaneous respiration), so the lungs are not needed while submerged.
