Then sperm are transferred into the female tract (insemination). Sperm and ovum fuse (fertilisation) to form a zygote. The blastocyst attaches to the uterine wall (implantation). Insemination is only the transfer of sperm into the female genital tract. Fertilisation is the actual fusion of the male gamete (sperm) and female gamete (ovum) to form a zygote. Insemination happens first and is just delivery; fertilisation happens later inside the ampulla of the oviduct. Students often mix these two, so remember: insemination = sperm reaches the tract, fertilisation = sperm meets and fuses with the egg.
Fertilisation comes first. Fertilisation forms the zygote in the oviduct. The zygote then divides (cleavage) to form a morula and later a blastocyst as it moves to the uterus. Only after this does implantation happen, where the blastocyst attaches to the uterine wall. So the order is fertilisation → cleavage → blastocyst → implantation. Implantation can never come before fertilisation.

Viviparous means the young ones develop inside the mother's body and are born live, not laid as eggs. Humans are viviparous because the embryo develops inside the uterus, gets nourishment through the placenta during gestation, and is delivered as a baby at parturition. NCERT clearly states humans are sexually reproducing and viviparous, and this fact is a common one-line NEET point.
