What are the four main parts of the male reproductive system?

NCERT lists them in this order: (1) a pair of testes, (2) accessory ducts, (3) accessory glands, and (4) external genitalia (the penis). The testes are the primary sex organ because they make the gametes (sperms). The ducts, glands and penis are all accessory parts that help store, feed and deliver the sperms. For NEET, always remember the testes come first and the penis is the external genitalia.

What is the difference between accessory ducts and accessory glands in the male?

Accessory DUCTS are tubes that store and transport sperms. In order they are: rete testis, vasa efferentia, epididymis, and vas deferens. Accessory GLANDS make the fluid part of semen (seminal plasma). They are: paired seminal vesicles, a single prostate, and paired bulbourethral glands. Simple way to remember: ducts CARRY the sperms, glands FEED the sperms with fructose, calcium and enzymes. NEET often mixes these two lists in one question to trap you.

Is the infundibulum part of the male reproductive system?

No. The infundibulum is the funnel-shaped part of the oviduct (fallopian tube), so it belongs to the FEMALE system. The male accessory ducts are only rete testis, vasa efferentia, epididymis and vas deferens. ReNEET 2026 asked exactly this as an odd-one-out, and infundibulum was the answer. If you see infundibulum in a male-parts list, that option is wrong.

Which gland lubricates the penis?

The bulbourethral glands (also called Cowper's glands). NCERT says their secretion helps in the lubrication of the penis. Do not confuse this with the seminal vesicles or prostate, which mainly add fructose, calcium and enzymes to the seminal plasma. NEET 2020 tested this in a match-the-column question (bulbourethral glands paired with lubrication of the penis).

What is the correct order of sperm transport through the ducts?

Seminiferous tubules of the testis then rete testis then vasa efferentia then epididymis then vas deferens then ejaculatory duct then urethra then urethral meatus. The vas deferens receives a duct from the seminal vesicle and opens into the urethra as the ejaculatory duct. This exact pathway has been asked in NEET 2016, 2019 and 2023, so learn the sequence, not just the names.
