Histones are positively charged BASIC proteins rich in lysine and arginine and are organised into an octamer of eight molecules; therefore the statement that their pH is acidic is wrong. NCERT Ch 5, p.83, lines 027-034: "There is a set of positively charged, basic proteins called histones... Histones are rich in the basic amino acid residues lysine and arginine. Both the amino acid residues carry positive charges in their side chains. Histones are organised to form a unit of eight molecules called histone octamer."
