Three Tissue Systems in Plants — NEET Biology

📚 Practice Concept
📖 NCERT Source

We were discussing types of tissues based on the types of cells present. Let us now consider how tissues vary depending on their location in the plant body. Their structure and function would also be dependent on location. On the basis of their structure and location, there are three types of tissue systems. These are the epidermal tissue system, the ground or fundamental tissue system and the vascular or conducting tissue system.

Cells are the basic unit of plants; tissues are organised into cells, and organs are organised into tissues. 3. Monocots and dicots show anatomical similarities only, with no differences. 4. Internal structures of plants may show adaptations to diverse environments. 5. On the basis of structure and location, tissue systems are classified into epidermal, ground, and vascular. Correct answer: B 1, 4 and 5 only

Statement 1 is correct – NCERT clearly defines “Study of internal structure of plants is called anatomy.” Statement 2 is incorrect because tissues are organised into organs, not into cells (reverse logic trap). Statement 3 is incorrect – NCERT states that monocots and dicots are “anatomically different”. Statement 4 is correct – NCERT mentions “Internal structures also show adaptations to diverse environments.” Statement 5 is correct – NCERT lists three tissue systems: epidermal, ground, and vascular.
